The NFPA 10 is the standard used to regulate portable fire extinguishers of all types (dry chemical, Halon 1301, dry powder, water, water mist, C02, etc.) by most US jurisdictions, including those that use the ICC codes. It sets forth the A,B,C,D,K fire Classes, and contains extinguisher maintenance requirements. UL must test and list all fire extinguishers used to comply with NFPA 10 requirements.
