The OECD's annual survey of the British economy considers a range of issues regarding: macroeconomic performance and prospects; macroeconomic policy; productivity levels and potential economic growth; and managing public finances and expenditure. Overall, the survey finds that the UK's macroeconomic performance has been robust, with only a small slowdown in growth, whilst unemployment continues to fall without igniting inflationary pressures. However, while sound monetary and fiscal policies have contributed to greater macroeconomic stability, domestic and external imbalances have been building up and structural problems still endure, particularly in productivity growth and within the manufacturing sector.
