Description:... John Douthit, Sr. (1709-1784) emigrated from Ireland to southern Pennsylvania, and settled at Monocacy, Maryland, where he married Mary Scott in 1738. He moved to Anson County, North Carolina in 1750/1751, and much later became a Moravian (members of this church settled nearby in 1753). Descendants and relatives lived in Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Alabama, Tennessee, Florida, Missouri, Kansas, Texas, Indiana, Illinois, North Dakota, Montana and elsewhere.
