POLAND CAMPAIGN 1939/40
Description:... The documented here correspondence of soldiers Max Paul and his family from the years 1939-40 is like a double war diary. He, teacher from a small Saxon town, describes his soldiers everyday and commented on the course of war on all fronts. It is amazing how open he reported on the military situation and its assessments. You, a housewife and mother of two children, describes the plight of a woman who is suddenly thrust into the role of a single parent. Hopes they first luxury gift, so she gets with time increasingly feeling the war: the first supply shortages, misery and cold. Trembling, she experienced the first airstrikes in the basement - and finally reflects on the future together after all this time self-employed activity. Some misjudgment of the soldier Paul today calls forth shake of the head, one or the other statement and formulation may belch us. But anyone familiar with the past, can not hide that. These sometimes very personal letters are an impressive historical document about the concerns and needs, the hope and despair of two people, representing many millions. Organization "Steel Helmet" is based on true events.
