There are five papers on the romances of Chretien de Troyes, including pieces by Tony Hunt, Kenneth Varty and Charles Foulon, two on Welsh and German romances associated with Chretien's work, while other studies are on the Breton lais and on the English romances. In all, this is a wide-ranging and valuable collection, and a welcome addition to the series.
