Despatches from the Boer War
Description:... Annotated collection of dispatches from the Boer War by Australian literary celebrity 'Banjo' Paterson, 1864-1941, in his role as special war correspondent in South Africa. This is paperback release of a volume first published in hardcover in 2000. The dispatches were originally published in the 'Argus', 'Sydney Mail' and 'Sydney Morning Herald'. Recounts Paterson's experiences of being shot at, going behind Boer lines with the Medical Corps, and speaking to Boer farmers, prisoners of war and respected figures who supported the Boer cause. Includes photos, maps and other illustrations, references, glossary, newspaper sources, bibliography and index. Editor founded the Anglo Boer War Study Group. His previous title is 'The Road to Isandhlwana: Colonel Anthony Durnford in Natal and Zululand 1873-1879'.
