Mauritiana is a series that aims to increase the accessibility of written documents and maps of Dutch Brazil (1624-1654), The series is named after Count Johan Maurits van Nassau-Siegen (1604-1679), Governor-General of Dutch Brazil. This fourth volume, (Brazil in the Dutch archives), encompasses inventories from the National Archive for between 1630 and 1644; inventory 1.0501.01 of the old Dutch West India Company; letters from the Heren XIX; travel journals and the Daily Minutes of the 'Hoge en Secrete Raad van Brazilië', preceded by a number of articles by Benjamin Teensma. This volume includes many maps from the Bodel Nijenhuis collection in the Leiden University Library.
