Elements of Hydrographic Surveying (Classic Reprint)
Description:... Excerpt from Elements of Hydrographic Surveying The object in view in the preparation of this work has been to furnish a text-book for the instruction of midshipmen at the U. S. Naval Academy; as a consequence, the subject has been treated with particular reference to the requirements of the course at that institution. The limitation thus placed has prevented the detailed description of certain features occa sionally involved in surveying operations of the most precise nature, as, for example, astronomical transit observations; but all branches of the work connected with a marine hydrographic survey as ordinarily carried out have been completely de scribed, and the book is therefore available for purposes of reference for naval oficers and others that may be engaged in such work.
