Persistente Umweltschadstoffe im Sediment alpiner Hochgebirgsseen als Folge der globalen Destillation

Im Zuge der aktuellen Entwicklungen des Klimawandels besteht die Hypothese, dass abschmelzende Eismassen längst verbotene Umweltgifte, welche über lange Zeiträume im Gletschereis gespeichert waren, frei geben und damit umliegende Ökosysteme befrachten. Mit Hilfe umweltanalytischer Messverfahren wurde in dieser Arbeit ein Sedimentbohrkern des hochalpinen Rasass Sees (Südtirol) auf den Gehalt organischer Schadstoffe, hierbei polychlorierter Biphenyle (PCB) und Hexachlorbenzol (HCB) untersucht. Die Datierung des Sediments erlaubte es dabei den zeitlichen Verlauf der Schadstoffeinträge in das Sediment nachzuvollziehen. Die Ergebnisse sollen das Vorhandensein organischer Schadstoffe im Untersuchungsgebiet quantifizieren und darüber hinaus, vor allem im Hinblick auf die Hypothese der klimabedingten Remobilisierung von Schadstoffen, einen Einblick in die jüngsten Entwicklungen der Schadstoffkonzentrationen im Sediment des Rasass Sees ermöglichen. Abstract: There are a lot of reports about mountainous areas, attesting the impact of atmospheric pollutants in alpine ecosystems. In the course of the actual trend of climate change there is a Hypothesis that melting ice of alpine glaciers causes a remobilization of organic pollutants, which were fixed in the glacier for a long period of time. In this study a sediment core of the high altitude Rasass See (South Tyrol) was analyzed for the compound of organic pollutants, notably polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCB) and Hexachlorobenzene (HCB), via environmental analytical methods. By an age dating of the sediment core it shall be possible to reconstruct the processes of the input of organic compounds into the investigation area for the last decades. The results shall quantify the content of organic pollutants in the investigation area and give an overview about the variation in the concentration of organic pollutants in the lake sediment for the recent past, with regard to the mentioned Hypothesis.
