Description:... This is a study of the truffle and is comprised of two letters written to the Marquis de Balbian and one to the Count Morozzo, both of whom were members of the Sardinian court. These letters describe the varieties, compares nutritional value, habitat, and reproduction of black and white truffles as well as its cellular tissue. From the study of the mushroom's spores and various soil conditions, the author suggests methods of truffle cultivation which today is considered virtually impossible.
