The guidelines cover the following subjects: planning for stormwater management (considerations for both rural and urban drainage, planning levels, planning outside a watershed context); drainage systems for urban areas, beginning with the dual drainage concept and including guidance on service levels, design capacities, system components, and runoff control; stormwater quantity, including runoff estimation methods and computer modelling; stormwater quality aspects, water quality analysis, and modelling; best management practices from source to end of pipe; and operation and maintenance considerations, including capital and operating costs.
