The question of the daily life of Indian women arises from the deprivation of their basic
rights. The Indian Constitution gives equal rights to all Indian citizens, but in reality due
to traditions, customs, social norms many women have rights and entitlements and she
cannot take advantage of them. With that in mind, sociologists, thinkers, economists
have emphasized on giving equal political and social rights to women, putting forward a
global vision of developing the family, society and nation by giving development
opportunities to her strong forces. The process of women empowerment is related to
changing the social, political and economic system based on gender and exploitation to
create a system that provides women with equal opportunities for progress and
development on par with men. The present book gives a detailed account of the
changing political and social context and ideology from the point of view of human
development planning and women empowerment.
