Leadership for Learning
What We Have Learned from 30 Years of Empirical Research
Description:... The author presents a research-based model of leadership for learning. He argues that substantial progress has been made over the past 30 years to identify ways in which leadership contributes to learning and school improvement. Drawing on evidence from several recent empirical studies, he identifies and discusses six key approaches in leading for learning: values and beliefs; vision and goals; leadership focus; capacity building; contexts for leadership; and sharing leadership. He concludes that progress has been made but much remains to be done, especially in linking leadership practice to different contexts.
