Human Relations
People and Work
Description:... Abstract: The interpersonal dynamics of the American work place are examined from both an individual and organizational viewpoint as a college text. Some of the concepts and problems examined include organizational psychology, motivation, perception of self and others, social issues, unions, employer-employee relationships, and the informal organization. Practical topics include getting a job, dealing with the government and other agencies, personal communication, income and job satisfaction, developing confidence, and coping with societal change and pressure. Each chapter includes an outline of the concepts covered, a brief story to illustrate the personal aspects of the theoretical concepts, a list of key words, a self-test, and case histories. The material is broadly divided into 3 parts: workers and work, workers and bosses, and workers and organizations. (cj).
