Catalogue of Private-case Books
Accessions
Description:... Catalog of accessions to the Private Case collection of the Britism Museum, compiled by William Barclay Squire. The catalog contains entries, arranged alphabetically by author, for some one thousand books, including those bequeathed to the Britism Museum by Henry Spencer Ashbee on his death in 1900. The Ashbee books represent the largest single contribution to the Museum's Private Case collection, one of the largest collections of erotic and pornographic literature, comprising almost 2000 titles printed between the 17th and 20th centuries, in English, French, German, Italian, and Latin.
