Landscapes Between Eternities
Description:... The artists Sylwana Zybura and Tomas C. Toth have teamed up under the moniker crosslucid. Their shared undertaking is to develop "a prototype of the new world they long for." Yet this objective requires a variety of tests and experiments. What they envision is a trans-real identity, one that fuses multiple realities and modes of expression. It is often perceived as rapid change or as a reflection, almost a mirage. Many people's identities and their grasp of multiple levels of reality are increasingly equivocal today, eliciting contradictory interpretations. Zybura and Toth seek to deconstruct the strong personalities of the characters they depict, subjecting them to a fresh assessment and construing their bodies as landscapes. They are to be prepared to become part of an evolution that adapts to novel circumstances and technological progress and transcends gender, race, and norms. The fruits of two years of research, the portraits and still lifes included in this book are complemented by an essay by the curator and philosopher Simona Squadrito.
