Signalling Through Space Without Wires
Being a Description of the Work of Hertz and His Successors
Description:... Heinrich Rudolf Hertz, one of the most brilliant experimentalists and physicists in the history of science, in 1888 announced to the world his epoch-making discovery of electromagnetic waves. This interesting study is derived primarily from an illustrated lecture given by the author in 1894 in London, detailing the work of Heinrich Hertz and his early successors. The rest of the volume discusses the work of Branley, Popoff, Slaby, Marconi and Thompson and concentrates on the development and use of the coherer principle and photo-electric phenomenon. Signalling Through Space Without Wires proved to be instrumental in spreading interest in wireless telegraphy and wireless experimentation throughout the world.
