Catrina y sepulcro
cultura y espacios funerarios en México
Description:... The published papers presented during the 1st International Congress and 4th Ibero American Meeting for the Evaluation and Administration of Cemeteries and Funeral Art held in 2004 in UAM - Xochimilco. The papers explore funerary art, constructions, traditions and histories still present in the collective memory of the Mexicans, particularly in the rural areas. The book is divided in two sections: "Catrina" discusses the intangible patrimony of death, burial sites and cultural expressions derived from the Mesoamerican cosmovision. A second part "Sepulcro" reviews concrete cases that document the historic, artistic, social, symbolic and urban architecture of cemeteries.
