Bravo Brown!
The Correspondence of Charles Henry Brown--aeronaut
Description:... This is a collection of the letters of Charles Henry Brown, a pioneer aeronaut, and the correspondence he received from fellow balloonists and early aviation enthusiasts. Brown had formed a singular relationship with the eminent aeronaut Henry Coxwell, for whom he acted as occasional agent. Coxwell in turn supported Brown in his aviation efforts and was responsible for him obtaining a position as a balloonist in Australia. The letters record the endeavours, frustrations and occasional double dealing of the early aeronauts, and highlight the peculiar reactions of the general public to the novelty of aerial transportation in the mid-nineteenth century"--
