Description:... "Ranger VII returned to Earth the first high-resolution pictures of the Moon's surface; it proved to be the first of three highly successful lunar photographic missions. The Ranger VIII and IX flights brought to more than 17,250 the total of Ranger pictures, extending the close-up coverage both in area and variety of terrain. Subsequent unmanned-spacecraft projects will further extend the coverage and bring the focus even closer. Project Apollo will place observers on the lunar surface.
