"The word "pandemic" is defined in the dictionary as an "epidemic disease that extends to many countries", although its semantic scope is much less specific than that and, of course, much broader. A pandemic is not only the consequence of a microorganism that extends to many countries: to that we must add its rate of contagion, mortality, aftermaths and side effects; its repercussions in demographic, economic, political and social relations, education, habits and all areas of life, including private life. All of which is why, when we talk about the Spanish flu and Covid-19 pandemics, caused by two viruses known as influenza (H1N1) and SARS-CoV-2 respectively, we are referring to a whole set of factors and circumstances that must be taken into account.
