Extended Matching Questions for the MRCS
Description:... Practising examination techniques is an essential component of postgraduate medical training. Whilst certain types of examinations, such as MCQs, are already well catered for by many publications, examples of extended matching questions (EMQs) are not widely available. Almost one third of the MRCS Part I examination is made up of EMQs, and this book is the first of its kind, written by authors with recent experience of the examination themselves and designed to help basic surgical trainees to practice, and ultimately pass, this vital part of the examination. The book follows closely the structure of the examination itself, but within this structure, individual questions have been specially tailored to focus on areas that trainees traditionally find difficult. Each question is accompanied by comprehensive, referenced explanatory notes, which enhances the book's appeal both as a revision aid (when combined with a comprehensive text such as Fundamentals of Surgical Practice) and as a useful quick reference for the qualified junior surgeon, particularly those aspiring to become trainers.
