He begins a friendship with Theophanes, a boy who recently moved with his parents to Patara. Through a dangerous ordeal, during an innocent game of hide-and-seek, Nicholas and Theophanes would become best friends; a friendship that would endure many more adventures and one that was destined to become, in many ways, eternal.
