Interfaces and Interphases in Analytical Chemistry
Description:... The book focuses on analyses that occur at particular interfaces or in specific interfacial regions. A broad range of electroanalytical, spectroscopic, and chromatographic techniques are discussed. As analytical devices continue to shrink, and as nanoparticles and colloids continue to grow as interesting areas of research, it is important to develop methods that probe the unique chemistry at interfaces and to understand how that chemistry differs from bulk behavior. Each chapter in this book focuses, in some way, on the chemistry occurring in unique, non-bulk environments. At the same time, this is not a book about surface analysis techniques, per se. Rather, it is a book about taking advantage of the unique properties of interfaces and interphases to develop or better understand new methods of analysis. As such, the book is organized according to the type of material being used, rather than by analysis technique.
