Полвека забвения
евреи в движении сопротивления и партизанской борьбе в Украине, 1941-1944
Description:... Jewish resistance to the Nazis in Ukraine, both spontaneous and organized, began from the first days of the occupation. It took the form of attacks against the murderers during mass executions, uprisings in ghettos, etc. Ca. 2,200-2,900 Jews, according to various estimates, fought as Soviet partisans in Ukraine. Many partisan commanders, like Konishchuk, Brinskii, Kovpak, Saburov, Aleksei Fyodorov and others, rescued Jews, either accepting them as fighters or placing them in "civilian camps". Jewish fighters sometimes suffered from the antisemitism of lower echelon commanders. Some Jews were commanders of partisan units. Dwells on the heroism of Jewish partisan fighters in Ukraine. After the war many of them were not rewarded by the authorities because of their Jewish origins.
