The first information from the 2003 National Survey on Drug Use & Health (NSDUH), an annual survey of the civilian, non-institutionalized population of the U.S. aged 12 years or older. Prior to 2002, the survey was called the National Household Survey on Drug Abuse. This report provides a concise summary of the main results of the 2003 NSDUH. Both this Overview & the full report present national estimates of rates of use, numbers of users, & other measures related to illicit drugs, alcohol, & tobacco products. Measures related to mental health problems are also included. A major focus is changes in substance use between 2002 & 2003. Charts, tables & graphs.
