The first issue of the journal features articles from very experienced legislators who know the Standing Order thoroughly. These include former Dewan Rakyat Speaker, Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia; former Dewan Rakyat Deputy Speakers, Datuk Seri Ronald Kiandee and Datuk Seri Ismail Mohamed Said; and former Dewan Negara Deputy Speaker Datuk Doris Sophia Brodie.
The True Mirror focuses on the current issues, reforms, and challenges facing Malaysia’s Parliamentary Democracy. Topics featured in Issue 1 include a very pertinent article about the Hansard, the vote of no confidence in Parliament, the position of the Speaker of the House in the Constitution, the need for a Constitutional Court in Malaysia and Parliamentary Privilege. The Journal includes the King’s speech on 18 May 2020 as well.
The periodical publication seeks to encourage greater research and the sharing of ideas, experiences and information on issues relating to the legislature and parliamentary democracy in Malaysia.
The Editor in Chief, states:
“With the publication of this journal, we hope to promote a high level of discourse among experts and researchers in the field, especially with the growing interest in Parliamentary reforms and processes in the country of late.”
