Description:... Letter, dated Jan. 16, 1796 in Manila, to the king from the president and judges of the Audiencia of Manila, acknowledging receipt of and compliance with a royal decree ordering a four percent reduction in salaries of employees of the Crown. The Audiencia acknowledges receiving a copy of the decree, which was signed at San Ildefonso on August 17, 1794, and which orders a four percent reduction in salaries of employees of the Crown. The decree was delivered by the Conde de la Cañada along with other dispatches carried aboard the frigate "Fernando Magallanes," on her return from Acapulco under the command of Don Luis de la Concha. The Audiencia's acknowledgment is signed by governor of the Philippines and Audiencia president Rafael Maria de Aguilar, and judges Agustín de Emparán, Francisco Xavier Moreno and Felipe Cisneros de la Oliva.
