Common Goals for Sustainable Forest Management
Divergence and Reconvergence of American and European Forestry
Description:... Sample (president, Pinchot Institute for Conservation) and Anderson (president, Forest History Society) present 20 papers from two colloquia, one held in Europe and one in the United States, that brought together forest managers, researchers, and policy makers to examine commonalities and differences in forest management, education, and practice in Europe and the United States in recognition of the fact that despite US and European forest management practices and frameworks diverging for much of the 20th century, they have common roots and are currently facing common concerns, leading to a reconvergence. The papers therefore discuss both the historical development of forestry management and current issues and practices.
