Society at a Glance : OECD Social Indicators 2002.

Social policy covers a broad range of policy issues which are both diverse and interlinked; for example, coping with an ageing society requires new approaches to health care and employment, as well as to pensions. This publication presents a concise overview of social trends and policies, by providing both context indicators to illustrate national differences in social trends, and social status and response indicators categorised in four broad social policy areas. These are: self-sufficiency, equity, health and social cohesion. The 2002 edition of the publication focuses on disability and child well-being indicators, as well as containing data on other social policy aspects including: ageing populations, foreign-born population, employment, working mothers, replacement rates, child poverty, public social expenditure, potential years of life lost, health care expenditure, strikes, suicides and prisoners.  Read more...
