The DSA Process is highly adaptable and can be used successfully in many different development initiatives. In its full form it involves managers in the preparation and implementation of value driven strategies using learning organisation principles, ideas and cycles. It is designed for the purpose of creating progressive and convergent learning and development in managers and their organisations.It is not a 'cookie cutter' type of management tool or technique, but an ongoing increasing process which can be used continuously or at intervals, whichever suits the particular needs of the application. It contains skills packages which assist in personal development and it contains ideas about how to help people work together more effectively in small and larger groups. It puts in place concepts of strategic management that are reliable and proven in operational management situations and emphasises the need to understand the dynamic forces and issues which shape organisations and the consequences of management decision making. It asks questions: Do I know myself? Do we know how our organisation works? Do we really know how and why we attract business? Are there better ways of doing these things? and many other questions, very pertinent to the future success of enterprise.The core DSA Process and the related skills elements will help to develop high level and incisive strategic competencies in managers. But as with any highly skilled craft, use and re-use are the key to learning and improvement. This is an essential part of the Process. The management of effective and sustained organisational learning by managers who have the responsibility for the development of human capital will be an increasingly important factor for success in the future and DSA can play an important part.
