Gefässformen, Bildthemen und Funktionen unteritalisch-rotfiguriger Keramik aus der Nekropole von Tarent
Description:... This detailed report examines and catalogues assemblages of Apulian Red-figured pottery recovered from the tombs of Taranto and dating from the late 5th century to the early 3rd century BC. The thesis examines the different forms, figurative artwork and function of the vessels whilst also considering the significance of these gravegoods for what they reveal about Tarantine burial practices and beliefs. The fact that only 54 of the 264 burials were male is also considered. The book concludes with an extensive illustrated catalogue. German text with English and Italian summaries.
