Книга погромов
погромы на Украине, в Белоруссии и европейской части России в период Гражданской войны, 1918-1922 гг. : сборник документов
Description:... Pp. iii-xxviii contain an introduction by Milyakova, discussing the pogroms of 1918-22, the motivations of the pogromists, and the ideologization of the pogroms in 1919 and later. Characterizes the pogroms of 1918-22 as a first attempt at a holocaust. Discusses also the provenance of the documents presented in this volume, and how Jewish and Soviet organizations collected eyewitness accounts of the pogroms after the end of the Civil War in Russia. Dwells on the contribution of Ilya M. Cherikover (1881-1943) to this "first oral history project". Pp. 1-836 contain documents (mainly eyewitness accounts and memoranda) on the pogroms in Ukraine, Belarus, and Russia perpetrated by the army of the People's Republic of Ukraine (Petlyura), Denikin's Volunteer Army (the Whites), the Red Army, the Polish Army in 1919-20, Balakhovich's army in Belarus, and Mamontov's army in southern Russia, as well as by numerous peasant rebel and "wild" units. All the documents are deposited in the State Archives of the Russian Federation and have not been published previously.
