The Atlas of Experience
Description:... For centuries human beings have been haunted by fundamental questions. Who are we? Where did we come from? Where are we going? Where should we have lunch? This atlas follows the conventions of cartography, but leads the traveller through familiar-looking topography into hitherto uncharted realms of imagination, ideas, feelings and experience. The book may not provide the answers to every question. But it will be an entertaining companion on your most intriguing and important journey - the journey through life. The idea for The Atlas of Experience first came from two dutch cartographers, Jean Klare and Louise van Swaaij, who published a simple version of it for their clients in 1997. The idea intrigued the publisher Bas Rompa who persuaded Klare and van Swaaij to take the idea further. At his prompting, they developed a whole world of maps reflecting human life experience and emotions. The result was this playful, evocative book, a publishing sensation in Holland, selling 100,000 copies in its first nine months.
